Next Generation By Design: Optimizing digital exchange for chatbots and AI technologies to enhance conversation-based learning
With greater public understanding of the opportunities, limitations and risks associated with today’s most advanced applications to Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Development, it is time to transform the current market options and lead the industry in a new direction that enables greater control to the consumer. We call this effort Next Generation By Design (NGBD). At DXtera Institute, our members are coming together to lead the next wave of solutions that focus on designing and integrating systems in ways that allow information to be shared easily, timely and accurately across systems. Our growing, international community is tackling next generation challenges by enabling richer user experiences, clearer information ownership and governance roles, less redundancy, and greater security of sensitive or private data. This workshop will share the vision, activity and projects of the NGBD community with a focus on the optimization of digital exchange for chatbots and AI technologies to enhance conversation-based learning in education that is being deployed at the Open University of Catalonia, a fully online university headquartered in Barcelona, Spain.
Conversation-based learning is a learning methodology in which a student and a master (instructor) talk together to achieve learning goals. Therefore, teachers are able to learn from each learning experience as no other learning methodology does. A new course-based approach emerged and has been set as the standard framework to date. This presentation will explore chatbots and AI technologies in order to revisit conversation-based learning in education. In addition, the ways of boosting LMS classrooms, learning resources and new conversational tools such as Slack, Telegram and Messenger to efficiently support the personalized learning environment. Anyone interested in how the ability to control the use of your digital information, combined with chatbots and AI can enhance higher education in the years to come is invited to attend the presentation.
