Shortening the Distance to Interoperability: Meeting Common Needs Across Technologies and Cultures in Higher Education
Technology does not stop at borders — but its impact is always local. Across higher education, institutions in Europe, the United States and beyond are independently working toward the same critical goal: a connected, interoperable ecosystem that puts learners first. The distance between those efforts is where opportunity lives.
Earlier this year in Barcelona, Spain, DXtera, with members Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and 1Edtech, gathered with institutional leaders, technology specialists, and practitioners to do what no single organization can do alone — align. Over two days, participants explored the convergence of EduAPI, CampusAPI, OpenEU, and the European Higher Education Interoperability Framework, examining where these efforts complement one another, where gaps remain, and how a shared vision for standards for API integration can be forged from the collective wisdom in the room.
This month’s Tuesday session will recap the event, discussions from the Learning Impact Conference, and continue the conversation.
