1EdTech and DXtera Join Forces to Advance Open, Interoperable EdTech Solutions for Postsecondary Education

BOSTON and BURLINGTON, Mass., May 28, 2025 — Improving learner outcomes by improving access to meaningful and actionable learning data in postsecondary and higher education is the goal of a new partnership, announced today, between 1EdTech® Consortium and DXtera Institute℠, Inc.

The two non-profit organizations are committed to developing consumer-driven, open solutions that make education technology work better for everyone. The organizations will begin by exploring the alignment of 1EdTech’s EduAPI and DXtera’s CampusAPI. These two solutions enable interoperability between educational institutions’ systems of records and other technical products to ease access, improve security and enhance the effectiveness of those products and services.

“This collaboration represents a significant step forward in our mission as a non-profit membership organization dedicated to building open source solutions to create a more interconnected and effective education ecosystem,” said Dale Allen PhD, President and Co-Founder at DXtera Institute, Inc. “Combining the solutions and talents from our community with the leadership, community and expertise of 1EdTech has the potential to significantly improve the opportunities for education organizations and learners to have greater functionality and control over the use of their data.”

“This partnership is one more example of 1EdTech’s mission to reduce complexity, accelerate innovation and expand possibilities for learners,” said 1EdTech CEO Curtiss Barnes. “By working with other organizations, like DXtera, that share our vision, we move even closer to fully realizing a united edtech ecosystem that works better for everyone.”

Education providers, companies, state systems and organizations are praising the commitment to collaborate amongst these two leading organizations to remove these barriers of optimizing the utilization of data within education.

“It will take collaboration across the EdTech ecosystem to create widespread Learning Mobility,” said Melanie Gottlieb, Executive Director of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers. “AACRAO is proud to support collaborative efforts that empower institutions and the learners they serve through greater interoperability. Partnerships like this are essential to building a more connected and accessible educational ecosystem.”
